- John, Su, Julie H, Elaine, Cindy, Rich and Stephanie spent the morning hiking to Switzer Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains.
- We encountered this sign at the beginning or our hike.
- John and the rest of the group don’t appear to be too concerned about the possibility of a bear encounter.
- Steph looks happy to be out hiking on a Sunday a.m.
- This is a 4.5 mile out-and-back hike.
- The first stretch of the hike has lots of shade.
- We did a little bit of climbing.
- Su always comes prepared with a map of the hike on her phone.

- Here comes John and Rich.
- We enjoyed some beautiful views along the trail.

- The waterfall is up ahead.
- This would be a stream crossing if there were more water.
- Switzer Falls! It is currently a trickle, but it is a 50 foot waterfall during other parts of the year.
- We enjoyed having the ‘waterfall’ all to ourselves!

- We heard and saw this woodpecker.
- We saw this cute dog on the last stretch of the trail. The owner said it is half Rottweiler and half Huskey. Huh?!!
- We questioned the dog’s breed, but the owner claims he had genetic testing done and it matched what the shelter told him.
- THANK YOU SU for leading us on Hike #1 of the “Let’s Get Back Into Hiking Shape” series. We all enjoyed it and appreciate all of your planning and hiking expertise!
