Happy Running ELAINE!!!  Elaine will be in No CA to run the American River 50 Mile Endurance Run this Saturday as part of Team in Training.  This will be her 2nd 50 mile ultra race.  AMAZING!!  Her training was a little unique this time around.  Due to a sprained knee and some hip pain, she had to do a lot of her training by aqua jogging in the pool.  I got to hear all about her 5 hour and 6 hour pool jogs and even saw a pic of her ‘prune hands’. LOL  We can all attest to Elaine’s perseverance and determination…not only in her training, but in her dedication to supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Here is the link to her TNT page should you care to help in her fundraising:

Greetings from RICK:  During Rick’s last visit to the OC back in January,  you may have heard him mention that he is into streak running.  NO…it’s not what you might be thinking!  Rick is a member of 2 streak running FB groups from all over the US and the world.  They try to run every single day without missing a day…hence the term ‘streak’.  Today was Running Streak Day #104 for Rick.  He said that he needed something to keep him motivated and excited about running…and he found it!  First thing every morning, he checks his tablet for the early posts (most of them post every day) for the streak runners from Europe and the east coast of the US.  Duly inspired, he then heads out for a run.  He still trains 4 days (Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Sat) and on his ‘rest’ days…he runs an easy 2 miles.  He keeps his weekly mileage between 18 and 25 miles depending on his long run that week.  Rick says it’s been interesting and challenging!  Back in December, he had a 10 day stretch where the temps didn’t get above 26 degrees!  He also had to deal with rain (both light & heavy), wind and fog.  And…various combinations of all the conditions.  Rick loves the challenge and having a whole new group of fellow streaker friends.  To become an ‘officially’ recognized streak runner requires 1 year of daily (minimum of 1 mile) running, so that’s his short term goal.
