Happy Birthday RICH and JULIA!!!  Rich celebrates his birthday on Monday and Julia celebrates her birthday on Tuesday.  Enjoy your birthdays you 2!

Congrats ELAINE!!!  Elaine completed the Bandit 30K in Simi Valley on Saturday.  Elaine said that some parts of the course were tough with climbs and down hills on slab-like rocks.  She fell on a rocky downhill at mile 7, but still managed to complete the race…despite having a bruised and swollen knee and scrapes on her arms and hands.  She is going to take a short time off to recuperate from her injuries.  We wish you a speedy recovery and hope that you can get back to your 50 miler training soon, Elaine!  In case you didn’t hear…Elaine is once again involved with Team in Training and will be running the American River 50 Mile Endurance Run on April 2nd.  It looks like a beautiful course which begins in Folsom and ends in Auburn.

Brea Runners’ 2015 Holiday Charity:  Our running group first began it’s annual tradition of helping those in need during the holiday time back in 2011.  Although we did select a holiday charity for 2015, I didn’t have a chance to send the information out until now and I apologize for the delay.  Even though the holidays have passed, I hope that you will consider donating to this wonderful organization.  Bethany has been involved with the Royal Family Kids organization through her church.  She and Jason organized a 5K on Thanksgiving and will be having a golf tournament to help raise some of the money needed to send 40 foster children to summer camp this year.  After the 5K, many of us heard the stories that Bethany told us about the hardships, horrific abuse and neglect that so many of these foster kids have endured.  Summer camp is a chance for them to get away for a short time and enjoy a lot of fun camp activities.  Many of these children have never had a birthday party and Bethany said that the camp has a birthday celebration for them.  So…some of the money raised also goes towards party supplies, and small gift items for each child.  Rather than collecting $, checks or gift items…it will be easier for all involved if you make your donations online.  Just go to the website below and click on ‘Donate and Make a Difference’.
