Santa Barbara Chardonnay 10 Miler (April 16, 2016): This is a beautiful out-and-back course along the waterfront.  There will be post-race wine tasting!  Nina and Sharon are planning on running this one.  Nina said that there is also a Wine Tasting Country BBQ on Sunday (April 17)  at the Fess Parker Winery.  If anybody is interested in attending the Fess Parker event…you will have to contact Nina.  She has a Fess Parker membership and this event is not open to the public, but she can invite you as a guest.  The Fess Parker event is $35 and includes wine tasting, BBQ and country music.  Also…Nina has secured a block of rooms at the Lavender Inn by the Sea.  The hotel is located off Shoreline and is walking distance to the start line.  If anybody is interested in this running trip…please contact Nina and she can send you more information regarding the accomodations.  Email:  nina.visconti11@gmail.com

We’ll meet near the Snail’s Pace store at 6:00 p.m. We gather in front of the In Flower floral shop (1050 E. Imperial Hwy in Brea), which is located between Snail’s Pace and Tempo Urban Kitchen.  We’ll be doing the 5.3 mile version of John’s Run.  One way to shorten this run is by staying on Associated Rd., rather then veering off towards Placentia Ave.  This will make the run slightly more than 4.5 miles.  If you want an even shorter run…you can always do an out-and-back run and turn around at any point.  Please don’t take a shortcut through Craig Park!  That wouldn’t be a safe choice now that it’s dark out.

Congrats LONNISSA!!!  Lonnissa and her hubby, Adrien completed the Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World 1 1/2 weeks ago.  They ran 4 races over 4 days and received a medal for the 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon and full marathon…plus 2 additional challenge medals.  This was Lonnissa’s very first full marathon and she completed it in 5:02 hours.  She is hoping to beat that finish time when she does the Surf City full next month.

We will be meeting in a parking lot on Associated Rd. just up the street (heading north) from Mercury Insurance at 7:00 a.m.   This parking lot is adjacent to Associated Rd. and across the street from Chevy Chase Dr. (2 blocks south of Birch St.)  We decided that it would be better to meet here rather than the Mercury lot since Mercury Insurance is on private property.  You can see the parking lot on the west side of Associated in the photo below.

Tuesday’s BR Intrepid Runners:  The very wet and cold weather didn’t stop this group from coming out to run on Tuesday evening.  Rick surprised us with a visit!  The temps were probably a lot warmer than what Rick is used to up in Coarsegold.

BR Furry Friend JT:  It’s been awhile since Sandi and Juan’s pup, JT has been out for a run with us.  Sandi sent this pic of ‘JT the Hunk’.  LOL

Time Flies!  Hunter and Jenna both had birthdays this week.  Hunter is now 5 and Jenna is 7 years old.  As you can see…the ‘Double Wide’ is still getting put to use…mainly for hiking.  Here’s a pic of the kids along with Lori’s Scottie, Winston and Jenna’s pup, Ruby.  I am happy to report that Hunter’s kidneys are stable!
