Tuesday Run (Dec. 1)

We’ll meet near the Snail’s Pace store at 6:00 p.m. We gather in front of the In Flower floral shop (1050 E. Imperial Hwy in Brea), which is located between Snail’s Pace and Tempo Urban Grill.  We’ll be doing the 5.3 mile version of John’s Run.  One way to shorten this run is by staying on Associated Rd., rather then veering off towards Placentia Ave.  This will make the run slightly more than 4.5 miles.  If you want an even shorter run…you can always do an out-and-back run and turn around at any point.  Please don’t take a shortcut through Craig Park!  That wouldn’t be a safe choice now that it’s dark out.

John’s Run – Modified Version (5.3 miles)

‘Up and Running Again’ Shoes and Running Clothes Donations:  Brittany mentioned that her organization could use our used running shoes and any running clothes that we no longer wear.  The homeless runners that they train to run a half marathon must show a commitment to the program and attend runs for several weeks before they are given a new pair of running shoes.  In the meantime…they could benefit from our used shoes since many of them don’t have a proper pair of shoes to run in.  If you have anything to donate…just bring them to one of our runs.

Our group typically gets together for a Thanksgiving morning run every year.  This year, both Bethany and Brittany have organized holiday runs, which benefit charities that they are involved with.

Bethany is hosting a 5K/10K run in Brea to raise funds to help send foster kids to camp, where they will learn that they are loved.  The run will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Brea Sports Park (3333 E. Birch St.)  on the corner of Birch and Valencia.

Brittany is hosting a 5K run at the Fullerton Loop to raise funds for Up and Running Again.  This organization trains homeless to run a 1/2 marathon, which will help foster a sense of accomplishment and goal setting skills.  The run begins at 8:00 a.m. The address is on the flyer below.

You don’t have to register in advance for either run and they only ask that you make a donation to their charity.

Turkey Tri at Bonelli Park in San Dimas:  Bethany, Jason and I completed the sprint Turkey Tri on Sunday.  We were happily surprised to run into Juan and Sandi’s son, John who came to participate in the event.  It was a beautiful day and we had a great view of the mountains.  The Puddingstone Lake water was a chilly 65 degrees and thankfully we had wetsuits.  We saw a couple of people who didn’t! This was a fun and easy tri for beginners…very well-organized with plenty of volunteers, a cute tech shirt and medal and pumpkin pie at the finish line!  Thanks to Katie, John’s wife who came out to watch the race, cheered and took some photos!  Thank you also to Elaine and Dennis who rode their bikes from their house in La Verne to watch the cycling portion of the tri!  We appreciate the cheers and photos that you took!  Here are some pics:
