We will do the Starbuck’s Run…which is 8.4 miles.  I know that there are some of you who may want a shorter run and some of you who may want a longer run.

6 miles – When you get to Fairmont Blvd (just after the 3 miles point)…make a RIGHT (instead of a left) down Fairmont and then a RIGHT on La Palma back to Starbucks

8.4 miles – Follow the Yorba Linda Starbuck’s Route as mapped

10.4 miles – When you get to the corner of Lakeview and Yorba Linda Blvd…run WEST on Yorba Linda Blvd. and catch the Nixon Library Trail.  Run to the Community Center and back.  Continue with the rest of the Starbuck’s route as mapped.

Brea Runners’ 2014 Holiday Charity:    Our running group first began it’s annual tradition of helping those in need during the holiday time back in 2011 when we adopted a family who was struggling financially.  The following year we adopted several senior citizens for the holiday and last year we collected socks and underwear to donate to homeless shelters.  This year, Pam suggested that we help the Thomas House Family Shelter.  Pam contacted Cyndee, who is the Executive Director for Thomas House and is also a California Cruiser.   Thomas House provides shelter for families with children and teaches them skills to become independent and self-sufficient.  Cyndee thanks us for selecting Thomas House as our holiday charity and said that they would appreciate gift cards, which will be given as gifts to their families living at the shelter.

We are asking for donations of gift cards in either $10 or $25 denominations from: Kohl’s, Walmart, Target and Stater Bros.  (If it is easier to donate cash…we will be happy to purchase the gift cards for you.)  Please give your gift cards to Pam or Julie by December 16th.

Of course…your participation in this project is completely voluntary!  But…it really does warm the heart to make the holidays a little bit merrier for those who are having a tough time right now.
