Saturday Run (Nov. 29)

We’ll meet at Tri-City Park at 7:00 a.m. We park in the east parking lot near the intersection of Kraemer and Golden Ave. in Placentia.  You have a couple of run options:

Option 1 (Flatter run):    If you run to the YL Community Center and back…it’s a little over 6 miles. If you run to the Nixon Library and back…it’s about 8 miles. If you run past the Equestrian center to the end of the Grandview cul-de-sac and back…that’s about 11 miles.

Missy’s Run (6.25 miles)

Lori’s Run (5 miles) For a longer run…continue with this route from the community center

Option 2 (Hill run):  This run is 8 miles, but you can shorten it to 6 miles by making  a right turn up State College from Yorba Linda Blvd. and eliminate the run around Acacia Park.

Yet Another Option…Trail Run Anyone???  I will be joining a local trail running group for an 8 mile run in Chino Hills State Park this Saturday at 8 a.m.  The route will be different than what is described since North Ridge is closed due to erosion in one area.  I don’t know what route we will run, but my guess is that the elevation change will be the same and there will be at least one very steep hill.  You are welcome to join me!

Get to know … Trail Running, Chino Hills and each other (8 miles or less)

This trail run is perfect for new members, all runners who are new to trail running and people who want to get to know the Chino Hills State Park. Since this is an out and back trail run, everyone can run their own pace and distance without being afraid of getting lost. It is also a good training run for everybody else who doesn’t feel quite ready …

It has been our yearly tradition to begin Thanksgiving day with a morning run at the Fullerton Loop.  This year, Brittany’s Up and Running Again group will also be running there and we decided to join them.  Up and Running Again is a non-profit group that helps homeless individuals train for a half marathon.  Brittany asked that we rsvp on the evite site below since they want to plan for the amount of refreshments they will need.

Yay HELEN H!!!  Helen completed her 16th 3-Day Walk this past weekend.  Helen personally raised over $5,000 for the Susan G Komen organization and the fight against breast cancer.  You are awesome, Helen!

Tuesday Run (Nov. 18)

We’ll meet in the parking lot near Men’s Wearhouse (985 E. Birch) at 6:00 p.m.  It is located in the Target/24 Hour Fitness Shopping Center.  You can shorten this run by omitting the portion of the route that goes around the post office.  Please DON’T take a shortcut through the park…that wouldn’t be safe!

Judi’s Run (5 miles)

Temecula Wine Country Half Marathon:  A group of us ran this race on Saturday.  The weather was perfect and although the course was hilly at the beginning and again at the end…the miles seemed to pass quickly since there were beautiful vineyard covered hillsides to look at.  We enjoyed listening to music and sampling wines from some of the local wineries after the race.  While sitting and relaxing at the post-race festival, we heard the announcer call Nina’s name.  Nina had no idea why her name was called and she ran onstage.  It so happens that all of the runners who registered for this race were entered into a contest to win an ELLIPTIGO…and Nina won!!!  What makes this ELLIPTIGO extra special is the fact that it is signed by Olympic Silver Medalist and 2014 Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi!  It also happened to be Nina’s birthday weekend…so what a terrific birthday gift she received.  You can take a look at Nina’s new ELLIPTIGO, as well as other pics of the race:

Su’s Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay:  Su and her sister, Alice ran this race on Sunday.  Although, the race is called the Big Sur Half Marathon, it is not held in Big Sur.  It is a very scenic course that winds through Cannery Row and up and down the Monterey Peninsula.  Here are a couple of pics that Su sent:

Holiday Dinner – Save the Date:  We will be having our annual holiday dinner on Tuesday, December 9th at 6:00 at the Yard House.  I will be asking you to rsvp soon.
