SoCal Ragnar Relay 2015   The following message is from Scott:

The SoCal Ragnar Team is in need of 1 more runner for the April 2015 event.  We want to get our registration in right away since costs go up very soon.  If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact Scott Gotreau at:   sgotreau@sbcglobal.net

A Message from MICHELLE:

My current position at the Alzheimer’s Association is trying to build relationships with companies and securing corporate sponsorships.  I started this position a few months ago with no leads and am working hard to try and make connections but, it’s very very slow.

Right now, we are really low in sponsorships for our Walks.  This is not a plea for money but a plea to help me find connections at businesses.  We have 4 Walks:

Tustin – Oct., 18th – 3,000+ attendees

Huntington Beach, Nov. 1, 5000+ attendees

Laguna Niguel, Nov. 8, 1000+ attendees (this is our inaugural Walk here)

Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Nov. 15, 6000+ attendees

In Anaheim we are desperate for a title sponsor at $10,000 which includes
  • 3 minutes of mic time during opening ceremonies
  • Sponsor banner displayed at stage
  • Registration volunteers proudly wearing your company shirts (sponsor to provide shirts)
  • Sponsor logo in newspaper advertisement
  • Company banner displayed on Walk route
  • Logo shared on our social media channels
  • Sponsor logo on Walk shirt (if decision made by September 1st)
  • Logo and link on our Walk website
  • Exhibitor booth at the Walk

We are also looking for a sponsor at an area in our event called the “Doggie Dugout.”  Unlike the majority of fundraising walks, we welcome our furry friends and try to cater to them by having an area with free treats, water, waste bags and bandanas.  This year we are searching for a new sponsor for our Doggie Dugout area.  We will co-brand our bandanas with our sponsors logo and we welcome the sponsor to have a booth in our Doggie Dugout area at all 4 Walks.  The monetary commitment is $5,000 and includes the above benefits along with:
  • Company logo on our shirts
  • Name and link on our website
  • Verbal acknowledgment at the event
  • Exhibitor booth at all Walks

Of equal importance are our sponsorships at the $2,500 and $1,500 level and those benefits can be obtained by the sponsor committing to fundraise the cost or by writing a check.  The benefits are articulated on the document attached.

We would also love to get companies to sign up for a Walk team – the cost to have a team is free, as is the cost to join a team – it’s a great way to work on team building for a company!

So, if you have any connections at companies that you think may be interested in sponsoring our Walk, or having a team, PLEASE let me know

Blessings!
Michelle

We’ll meet at the Fullerton Courthouse at 6:30 a.m. (near the intersection of Brea Blvd. & Harbor Blvd….behind the Ralph’s) 1275 N. Berkeley Ave. Fullerton, CA 92832. We park in the lower parking lot.

Brittany’s Up and Running Again group will be doing a 5 mile run around Laguna Lake and back.  She is expecting 75 of her runners to be out there running this trail for the first time.  Since the trail will not be marked for them…I thought it would be nice if we joined them and helped assist in making sure that her runners make their way to the lake and don’t get lost.  Brittany said that there will be a banner up where they will be meeting at the start of the trail in the morning.  They will have a prayer/devotional at 6:45 just before they begin their run.  Most likely, you won’t see me on Saturday.   I was intending to help out at a water station located near Laguna Lake, but unfortunately, an unexpected situation has come up and I may not be able to make it out there after all. Cindy 50 offered to volunteer and you will see her along the route.  If anybody is planning on doing a longer run and you need directions…I have them below so that you can print them and bring them with you.   Have a fun and safe run and keep an eye on each other!

I have the link for the Up and Running Again website.  Just in case you don’t know…this group of volunteers helps train homeless individuals to run a half marathon.  It is a way to help them learn to set goals, boosts their self-confidence and teaches them ways to live a healthy lifestyle.  Bethany is also one of their coaches and has been training women from a battered women’s shelter.  Brittany just had her 3rd baby recently and Bethany has 5 kids, yet they somehow manage to find the time to help others.  Hats off to both of them and the other volunteers for helping to make a difference in the lives of some fellow human beings!!!  You have my utmost admiration!

We’ll meet near the Snail’s Pace store at 6:00 p.m. We gather in front of the In Flower floral shop (1050 E. Imperial Hwy in Brea), which is located between Snail’s Pace and Lascari’s. We’ll be doing the 5.3 mile version of John’s Run. One way to shorten this run is by staying on Associated Rd., rather then veering off towards Placentia Ave. This will make the run slightly more than 4.5 miles.  Or…you can return via Craig Park and avoid the hill.
