Roberto’s Run (5 miles)

Leona Divide 50K:  A HUGE CONGRATS to ELAINE and MIRANDA on completing the Leona Divide 50K Ultra Trail Race on Saturday.  What an amazing accomplishment!!!  This was Elaine’s second ultra trail race and Miranda’s first.  It was an absolutely beautiful day with blue skys and green hillsides.  The temperatures were much cooler this year compared to last year…which was surely more comfortable for the runners.  Because of the cool temps and rain the day before…the runners got to see some snow along the trail in spots.  Pam, Michelle, John and I went out to watch the race and we got to witness firsthand exactly how tough these ultra trail runners are.  We were all awestruck when we saw runners come into the 21.6 mile support station complaining of turned ankles, nausea, blisters, IT Band pain, possible stress fractures, etc….yet, after applying some bandages or ointment, refueling and rehydrating…they headed out to complete the 9 1/2 miles to finish the race.  We were all equally impressed when we saw so many runners RUNNING up the very steep long long long hill after leaving the 21.6 mile station.  And…this was after running numerous hills prior to getting here.  Amazing!!!  Here are some pics that John and I took:

I know that we did this run last Saturday.  I hope you don’t get bored on your run!  I picked it again because I won’t be there and you won’t need any directions or maps.  I will be watching the Leona Divide race out in Santa Claria along with Pam, Michelle and John.  We will be there cheering for Elaine and Miranda.

Happy Trail Running ELAINE and MIRANDA!!!  They will be running the 50K trail race on Saturday.  It is a very challenging course that has a lot of elevation changes.  Runners will also get to run on the historic Pacific Crest Trail.

Happy Running Margaret!!!  Margaret will be in Oklahoma to run the Oklahoma City Marathon.  This will be state #34.  (She will be running state marathon #35 next weekend!)

I can and I will

Another option…Brea Olinda High School Track Workout:  If anybody is interested in trying out the RunningQuest track speed workout and skipping the Summit House hill run…Bob said that he is offering another complimentary session this Tuesday (April 22) at 6:00 p.m. and everybody is welcome  About 7 of us tried it out last Tuesday and we worked on speed, agility and quickness drills, had our running form evaluated and ran the track.  Bob said that he would be changing it up for this Tuesday’s session…so even if you went last Tuesday…it will be a little different.  Park on Wildcat Way near the track.

Thank You CHRISTINA!!!  Christina brought back some yummy macadamia nut chocolate kisses from her trip to Maui.  They were the perfect pre-run treat.  Thanks for thinking of us while on vacation!

Thanks again SANDI and JUAN!!! Sandi and Juan brought more orange wedges from their tree to our Saturday run.  They were juicy and sweet and we enjoyed them immensely!

Congrats AMBER!!!  Cara’s sister, Amber ran the Boston Marathon today in 3:43:15.  This finish time qualifies her to run Boston again next year.

Easter Egg Run:  We had an Easter Egg Run/Hunt in Tri-city Park before our regular Saturday run.  What a fun way to warm up before hitting the trail!  Thanks so much for planning this for us and providing all of the candy filled eggs, LISA!  We’ll have to make this an annual tradition.  Here are a few pics from the morning:
